The Chinese Pokémon Gem Pack (in simplified Chinese) is a product format exclusive to the mainland Chinese market. This unique concept differs significantly from classic Western sets in its configuration and the inclusion of totally exclusive alternate illustrations that cannot be found elsewhere in the world.
Main characteristics of Gem Packs
- Booster format: Packs generally contain 4 cards, all holographic or featuring special textures.
- Display composition: A box (display) usually includes 15 to 18 boosters depending on the volume.
- Drop rate indication: Unlike European or American boosters, Chinese legislation requires the transparent display of rare card pull probabilities directly on the packaging.
- Manufacturing quality: The back of the cards uses the standard Western design, but the printing, texture, and general quality of the cardstock are significantly closer to the refinement of Japanese cards.
